NetIQ’s Qcheck - IP Performance Testing
The place where im working right now had an Wide Area Network (Wide Area Network) around East Java using an fiber optic, They are using a another company as a Network Provider.
To make sure the network bandwith in WAN is match with bandwith that we bought from provider we are using NetQ Qcheck install it on every server in every node in WAN. It can check response time on client, troughput, traceroute and streaming (via UDP or IPX). It also support 4 protocol that we are usually use like TCP, UDP, IPX and SPX.
So lets check what is NetQ Qcheck actually ?
Qcheck is a free utility program designed to help you measure network performance and connectivity with ease! It made by NetQ And now distributed by IXIA.
QCheck is an indipensable tools that can running quietly in background anda it doesnt interfere with other application traffi, so we can be sure the the measurements it takes are accurate reflections of your network’s behavior under real operating conditions.
The diagram is like this
Qcheck helps us :
- Gather performance data while checking a network connection.
- Measure end-to-end connectivity and performance by using real application flows.
- Isolate and trend response time, throughput, and streaming data loss as separate indices of your network’s performance.
- Map and analyze connections by running traceroute tests.
- From a remote location, test and measure transactions between users.
- Gather information about end users on your network, including information about operating systems, memory, and CPU utilization (for streaming only).
- Establish baseline performance measurements before upgrading to a large-scale network monitoring system.
How to Use it
The Qcheck Console can install and run on Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000, and XP.
Then nstall an free Ixia Performance Endpoint (or Qcheck itself, which has the endpoint built in) on any other computers.
That’s it! Based on the parameters you select, the Qcheck console will instruct any two endpoints to run a test and return the results to you at the Qcheck console.
- For a response time test, Qcheck returns the minimum, maximum and average number of seconds it took to complete a transaction.
- For a throughput test, Qcheck returns the amount of data per second that was successfully sent between the two endpoints.
- For a streaming test, Qcheck returns the rate at which the streaming data was received by the second endpoint and the amount of packet loss that occurred.
- For a traceroute test, Qcheck returns the number of hops, average hop latency, and the address and names of the host at each hop.
So … if you have a WAN and want to check your bandwith and your WAN PErformance you can use it. If Uwant to download it u must sign in to IXIA Website.
I Hope it can be useful
All Informasion get it from User Guide QCheck from NetQ and from IXIA

Halo TinTin
We are glad you found Qcheck useful. You might also like Adcheck: http://www.netiq.com/adcheck/default.asp
ADcheck is our free Active Directory diagnostic utility. It quickly checks domain controllers, domains, and replication. After your first test you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it! :o)
ADcheck will provide real-time diagnostics that are useful in investigating a specific issue.
Plus, if you ever need more functionality:
NetIQ AppManager for Active Directory (http://www.netiq.com/products/am/modules/activedirectory.asp) provides continuous and on-demand diagnostic monitoring and powerful corrective tasks. NetIQ Domain Migration Administrator (http://www.netiq.com/products/dma/default.asp) which helps with planning and executing the migration of directory content from NT 4 to Active Directory and NetIQ’s AppManager ResponseTime for Active Directory (http://www.netiq.com/products/am/modules/responsetime.asp) which enables you to monitor Active Directory for high availability and maximum performance from an end-user perspective using synthetic transactions.
We like your blog, keep up the good work.
Sampai jumpa

mas, tools apa lagi nih yang bisa or berguna buat management network. kebetulan aq ngelola network juga. tapi masih juniot and kecil2an.baru belajar. mgkn bisa share. terutama tool2 yang bisa ngukur bandwidth end to end nya vpn-ip or komunikasi satelit kayak vsat-ip dll. tengkyu mas sebelumnya. info yang ini worth banget.
