Blogging at Office – Legal or Not
December 11, 2008First time i know about blog is from s small community of my friends whose like to buy a domain and have a website. And they are deciding to make a blog. So we start blogging at office. We blog at work hour but we still doing our main job and doing blogging and blogwalking when we have free time at our work hour.
Times goes around. Some of my friends now do blogging to make some money from it, from place an ads at their blog, do some review from review broker, etc. Rest of my friends still blogging for fun, do whatever he likes with his blog and make some community or just share some information and knowledge.
After a year of blogging, i concern about, “is my office is legal for blogging?” I mean not just blogging, it is also for playing games at work hours. It is legal or not ?
In my opinion, office hours should do activity related with your works, even they allowed us to surf the net, but i think the allowed us for that not for our personal use. But i think some office not too stritched about that, i mean they allowed us to do anything at least or main job is done, or not continuity to do personal activity like blogging, playing games, chatting, etc.
Otherwise, PC and internet connection was provide by our office, i feel so guilty when i do blogging or blogwalking use office hour and equipment. But i can’t hold my desire to write and visiting other bloggers blog.
Alhamdulillah now at home already had unlimited internet connection, but i must share my time at home between blogging activity and family. And i feel not guilty even i do blogging sometimes for money 
So if you have other vision about this topic, please feel free to give suggestion or discuss this with another blogger whose visit this page.

Tergantung boss bilang gimana mas.. Kalo bilang internet adalah fasilitas kantor, boleh dugunakan untuk refreshing dikala senggang ya legal.. kalau ada bau curi-curi ya ga legal..

Tergantung konteks kerjaanya juga mas, misal kerjaanya yang menuntut untuk selalu update berita teknologi maka ngeblog bisa berarti kerja juga misal bagian R n D dan yang ditulis di blog pengalaman pribadi dengan riset2x nya.

Legal atau Ilegalnya ngeblog di kantor sih tergantung sama pribadi masing-masih, bener kata ryan kalau memang kerjaanya berhubungan dengan internet ya itu wajar2 saja, yang jelas pasti ada yang namanya kurupsi waktu jam kerja

hmm.. if u can not control ur desire to blogwalking while u should work at that time , of course is ilegal. Good for u, finally u have the good facility at home. Honestly, i dont agree to do blogging at office hours. Firstly, u can not maximaze ur job while u doing else. But… (again) but, if u stuck with ur job, where.what will u do to release it, meanwhile u must do (like or not) finishing ur job. For me, blogging is the best way to get my mood better… cheers…

Bagaimanapun itu tergantung dengan aturan yang berlaku di tempat kerja. Kalau sama atasan boleh berarti ya gpp selama gak ganggu pekerjaan (biasanya ada embel2 syarat itu
).
Yang menurutku perlu diperhatikan adalah kapan waktunya ngeblog/blogwalking/blog commenting/internet/gaming dan kapan bekerja.
bayangin aja 5 vs 1 khan diatas itu. Bisa2 kerja cuman 1 jam yg optimalnya
Jadi itu harus dipisahkan meskipun diperbolehkan di kantor.
Dipisahkan itu bukan berarti windownya dipisahkan (buka window banyak tapi hanya 1 yg buat kerja, many others for the fun part, or private part).
Harapan sebenernya bos2 itu khan kasih kebebasan itu biar tidak jenuh bekerja, dan bisa riset dan belajar dari internet yg berhubungan dengan pekerjaan

kalau boleh, apa kita bakal trus-trusan nge blog atau maen game sampe seharian?
kalau gak boleh, apa kita terus berhenti ngeblog, atau berkarya, atau berkomunitas? atau berhenti bermain sama sekali?
apa yg cocok buat orang belum tentu cocok buat kita dan juga sebaliknya.

Hmm, sebenarnya bloggin dari kantor itu sebaiknya pas istirahat makan siang dan jelang pulang kantor. Utmost thing u must finish jobdesk first.
Dan satu lagi admin kantor akan me routing dan dan filter trafik internet di jaringan kantor lho, jadi hati2 dengan apa yang kita “tulis” saat blogging dari kantor.

Blogging per se is not bad, it’s the time spent during office hours that makes it illegal. But if your “boss” allowed such a thing, then why bother ask if legal or not. The most important thing is you ask permission first before resorting to blogging.

Blogging is certainly legal, but it doesn’t mean they can’t fire you for it. If you’re not working, then you will probably get in trouble. I only blog during my lunch hour.

It depends on how understanding your boss is. Sometimes, my workload allows me to slack off a little at work so I’m able to do a bit of blogging during office hours but I don’t do it all the time.

Blogging or visiting websites outside the subject of your job should be up to the boss or company you work for. Some companies don’t mind it, and some will even block activity to certain sites.
I guess it just matters if it’s authorized by the company you work for. If it doesn’t interfere with your work performance, I guess it’s ok.
