Schools Closures:
* Adams 12 Five Star Schools are closed.
* Adams County School District 14 closed early on a staggered schedule. According to the district Web site: High schools shut down at 11 a.m.; middle schools and Hanson PreK-8 closed at noon; elementary schools and Community Leadership Academy closed at 1 p.m.; kindergartners who normally ride a bus to 3C’s remained at elementary schools until riding the elementary bus home at 1 p.m., unless parents chose to pick them up; preschool and afternoon kindergarten sessions are closed. Check the Web site for a decision on whether schools will be closed Friday.
* Adams County School District 50 is on spring break.
*Aurora Public Schools are closed.
* Cherry Creek Schools, including before- and after-school day-care programs, are closed.
* Brighton 27J Schools are on spring break.
* Boulder Valley Schools are on spring break.
* Denver Public Schools are on spring break.
* Douglas County Schools, including before- and after-school child-care programs, are closed.
* Englewood Public Schools shut down at noon and will be closed Friday.
* Greeley-Evans School District 6 released students two hours early. According to the district’s Web site: High schools released students at 1 p.m.; elementary schools at 1:30 p.m.; middle schools at 2 p.m. Buses were to run their regular routes, but two hours earlier than normal. All afternoon kindergarten and preschool classes are canceled. All after-school activities and evening events at schools are canceled, including 21st Century programs.
* Jefferson County Schools are closed.
* Littleton Public Schools are on spring break.
* Mapleton Public Schools are on spring break.
* The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is closed. For
* Metropolitan State College of Denver is on spring break.
* Sheridan Schools closed on a staggered schedule. According to the district’s Web site, Sheridan High School and Sheridan Middle School closed at 12:30 p.m.; Fort Logan Elementary closed at 1 p.m.; Alice B. Terry Elementary closed at 1:10 p.m.; Early Childhood Center was to close at the regular time. Buses were to be operating at those times and current bus stops were to be used. If a child could not be dropped off at home with someone there, they were to be brought to Alice B. Terry Elementary until they could be picked up or another bus is operated. * The University of Colorado is on spring break.
Other closures:
* Denver government offices closed at 2 p.m.
* The Denver Zoo is closed. All afternoon programming has been canceled.
* Emission testing stations in metro Denver are closed. Stations from Boulder to Castle Rock were ordered closed about 9 a.m. Weather permitting, stations will open at 10 a.m. Friday.
* The Colorado General Assembly is closed today and Friday.
* The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is closed. Check the Web site for a decision on whether the museum will be closed Friday.
* The Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan released non-essential staff early.
* The Englewood Public Library closed at 3 p.m.
* The Englewood Parks and Recreation Department has canceled all evening activities and the Englewood Recreation Center will close at 5 p.m.
* Aurora city offices closed at 2 p.m.
* Littleton city offices closed at 2 p.m.
* Arapahoe County government offices closed at 2 p.m. and are set to reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.
* Jefferson County government offices closed at noon.
* Adams County government offices closed at noon.
* Lakewood city offices closed at 1 p.m. and are set to reopen Friday at 10 a.m.
* Lakewood recreation programs and classes closed at noon. The city’s Web site says it is unlikely that recreation centers will reopen before 10 a.m. Friday, but that updated information may be available.
* The Colorado Disability Determination Service office is closed.
* Gov. Bill Ritter’s office closed at 3 p.m.
* The Denver Botanic Gardens are closed.
* Wheat Ridge city offices closed at noon.
* The Wheat Ridge Recreation Center closed at 1:30 p.m. and is tentatively scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, but could reopen later. Call 303-231-1300 after 7 a.m. for an update.
* Arvada City Hall offices are closed.
* Northglenn City Hall offices closed at noon.
* Thornton’s Carpenter Recreation Center, Community Center, and Senior Center closed at 1 p.m.
* Golden city offices closed at noon.
* The Parker Recreation Center closed at 3 p.m. All town recreation programs have been canceled for the evening.
* Commerce City government offices closed at 12:30 p.m.
* Edgewater City Hall offices closed at 11 a.m. and will remain closed Friday.
