Black Friday 2009 sales; Sears and Target are starting to plan for the big day

Black Friday is a yearly event that gives you the opportunity to test your shopping prowess and the depth of your pocketbook. It may seem a bit premature but Sears and Target are already looking towards Black Friday.
Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving. Traditionally it is the kickoff to the holiday shopping season. It is not an official holiday, but many do have the day off (with the exception of those employed in the retail industry). Black Friday is commonly referred to as the busiest shopping day of the year, that is not always true. People turn out in mass but in terms of actual sales volume it generally ranks somewhere between the fifth and 10th busiest day of the year.
Sears will actually begin Black Friday sales this week with a door buster sale. Sears will offer a variety of door busters each week until Christmas in hopes of bringing out shoppers early and often. This week the sale will begin Friday at 5pm and continue through Saturday. After the first week, ‘Black Friday Now’ will happen on Saturday mornings through Christmas.
Here are a few of the deals Sears is offering this week:
50% off Craftsman® 302-piece mechanic’s tool sets
50% off all DieHard work boots
$79.99 3/8 ct. tw. diamond stud earrings
Target is also looking ahead towards Black Friday. The store has set up a section on the stores website. You can also sign up to receive weekly ad reminders and announcement of Black Friday deals.
