Los Angeles- A midair collision occurred between a US Marine Corps Bell AH-1 Cobra and a US Coast Guard helicopter on Thursday night about 24 km east of San Clemente Island, as reported by CNN. 9 persons are feared dead in this accident.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said the midair crash was reported at 7:10 p.m.
Seven people were believed to boarding a Coast Guard C-130, and two were in the AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter, authorities said.
A rescue search has been initiated to spot debris by the Coast Guard and Navy officials late Thursday. The search included three Coast Guard cutters and four Navy vessels.
Authorities said the cause of the accident is still unknown. Though an investigation showed that the accident might be caused due to an unsecure
