Black Friday is a yearly event that gives you the opportunity to test your shopping prowess and the depth of your pocketbook. It may seem a bit premature but Sears and Target are already looking towards Black Friday.
Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving. Traditionally it is the kickoff to the holiday shopping season. It is not an official holiday, but many do have the day off (with the exception of those employed in the retail industry). Black Friday is commonly referred to as the busiest shopping day of the year, that is not always true. People turn out in mass but in terms of actual sales volume it generally ranks somewhere between the fifth and 10th busiest day of the year.

So Verizon’s Droid is official, and officially arriving a week from Friday. I’m smart enough to know it’s pointless to call any phone an iPhone killer, or even a potential iPhone killer-and that competing with the iPhone is much more about software and overall integration than it is about hardware specs. (If you could kill the iPhone through trumping its specs, it would already be a goner.) But the Droid does pack better specs than the iPhone 3GS in many areas-including its screen, which has well over twice as many pixels. It runs the promising Android 2.0 OS. And it’s on a network that doesn’t provoke much in the way of squawking from its customers. In short, it’s the most formidable Google rival since the Palm Pre. (more…)

The Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series is scheduled to start on October 28, 2009, which is the latest start in World Series history. For the first time ever, the MLB World Series is regularly scheduled to end in November. Assuming no weather delays, Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday, November 1 and, if necessary, Game 7 will take place on November 5. Home field advantage for the Series will go to the American League for the eighth straight year as a result of their 4–3 win in the All-Star Game. (more…)
