Leo Frank documentary video on PBS stirs up 100 year old murder case

Leo Frank documentary video on PBS

A murder trial case that is almost 100 years old still remains a mystery, because Leo Frank, who was convicted for the murder isn’t the man who committed the murder. Leo Frank was later lynched for the murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan.

Leo Frank was sentenced to die for Mary Phagan’s murder, and was ultimately pardoned by the Governor because he believed that Frank did not receive a fair trial. Twenty-five local men took Frank from the jail and hung him to die. The trial itself was a considered a mockery of justice at the time, because the evidence actually pointed to another man who was the key witness for the prosecution.

The People vs. Leo Frank documentary premiered today on PBS and has already caused quite a controversy mainly because Leo Frank was a white Jewish man. The evidence at the time pointed to a black man, but an all-white Atlanta jury convicted Leo Frank.

The PBS documentary will be aired again in Salt Lake City tonight at 9:00 pm and again at 2:00 am Tuesday on KUED, channel 7.
