CPCC Starts Spring Registration

November 11 is a Veterans day, but it is also a special day for Central Piedmont Community College applicants in the Charlotte, NC and nearby areas. Today is the first day of registration of the current students of CPCC for the upcoming Spring 2010 semester. Students can go to cpcc.edu and find various ways of registering for for the spring courses.

Yesterday was the registration time for all those CPCC students who have completed 24 to 49 credits. Today, starting 7:30 AM EST all other currently enrolled students can go to Piedmont Community College or register for courses at CPCC.edu.

Tomorrow, November 12 is the date for open registration.

The Charlotte based college says that the “registration services are available by phone (CHRIS) at 704-330-6970 or INTERNET almost round the clock. In-person assistance is available at all CPCC campuses during normal business hours, Monday-Thursday 8AM-6PM, Fridays, 8AM-5PM and during extended hours as published.”

New students should contact the college admissions for more information about being admitted to Central Piedmont Community College.

The community colleges in North Carolina this semester had to deal with rise in enrollment. Charlotte, Hickory, Ashville and Raleigh area community colleges have become an instant safety area for many workers who are currently out of jobs due to the difficulties in the U.S. and global economies.

According to Charlotte Business Journal the enrollment is up this year nearly 27 percent from the past year. Only CPCC alone estimates that it has turned away nearly 5,000 college applicants this year.

Colleges try to balance the rise in student applications by increasing the price per credit. Currently in the NC Community College System the price per credit hour is $50 dollars.
