Bagasse Kitchenware Products

November 19, 2009

Bagasse is a fancy name for products made from a renewable resource, like sugarcane. For decades, sugarcane has been used to make sugar but the residual fibers were then discarded. As technology improved and the concept of recycling became widespread, scientists developed durable products from the fibers of sugar cane. It is actually the pulp of sugar cane which is turned into Bagasse products.

Over the years, many different household products have been developed from sugarcane pulp. This includes compostable plates, biodegradable bowls saucers, and even eco friendly containers and bins.

Other advantages of Bagasse products include their durability, heat resistance, ability to be used in a microwave and grease resistant. Moreover, Bagasse products are far less expensive than any comparable paper product and can be used multiple times.

All Bagasse products can withstand hot or cold temperatures and can be used to store stuff in the freezer.  Being eco friendly, the products decompose and become compost within 1-3 months. Bagasse products come in a variety of size, shapes and colors are readily available from most kitchenware stores.

Bagasse products have been deemed safe, durable and also save you money. Since they do not require regular disposal, there is always less garbage. The only negative about Bagasse products is that they are slightly more expensive than the traditional kitchenware but cheaper than paper products. This expense is easily overcome in the long run because the products are environmentally friendly, safe, durable and elegant.
