November 21, 2009Miley Cyrus Bus Crash Kills One
A tour bus carrying the concert production crew of singer Miley Cyrus overturned in Interstate 85 in rural Dinwiddie County, Virginia Friday morning — reportedly killing its driver, with nine others suffering minor injuries. Miley Cyrus was not on board at the time of the crash. The bus apparently drifted off the road — which was particularly wet from overnight rains. Authorities are not yet releasing the identities of those injured.
The accident happened on I-85 south near mile marker 56 in Dinwiddie County, that’s about 45-minutes south of Richmond, Virginia. There were 15 passengers on the bus when it careened out of control and flipped on its side Thursday night, according to Virginia State Police officials. Miley was reportedly on a bus that was part of a 4-vehicle caravan, which included the bus that overturned. The driver of the bus was killed on impact, but authorities are withholding that person’s name pending notification of their next of kin.
Sgt. Thomas Molnar says the bus overturned around 8:15 a.m. Friday on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie, about 40 miles south of Richmond. According to Miley Cyrus’ Web site, the pop singer is scheduled to perform Sunday in Greensboro, N.C.
Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, who also appears on the family friendly sitcom “Hannah Montana.”
