Paraskevidekatriaphobia: Fear of Friday the 13th

Looking for some interesting banter to throw into the conversation with your Friday night date? Paraskevidekatriaphobia may be just the ticket. Paraskevidekatriaphobia is defined as “fear of Friday the 13th.” Today marks the third time this year that there’s been a Friday the 13th.

According tyo Wikipedia, the word paraskevidekatriaphobia is derived from: “the Greek words Paraskeví (meaning Friday), and dekatreís (meaning thirteen), attached to phobía (meaning fear).”

Wikipedia tells us that the word was derived in 1911 and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953. (more…)
