St. Vrain schools open; Winter storm warning until 6 p.m. Thursday
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009The St. Vrain Valley School District is open and buses are running this morning, but after-school activities will be canceled.”When we woke up this moening we had probably less than 2 inches of snow,” said school district spokesman John Poynton. “We are going to cancel all after-school activities. … We continue to get reports we’re to get hit harder in the evening.”
The neighboring Boulder Valley School District is closed today.
The winter storm warning for an area that includes Longmont continues until 6 p.m. Thursday. According to Times-Call weather consultant Dave Larison, Longmont had 2.5 inches of snowfall overnight bringing both the monthly and seasonal total in the city to 6.2 inches. Normal snowfall for the season to date is 3 inches. Snowfall on Oct. 9 launched Longmont’s snowfall season earlier than normal. (more…)
